Alocasia longiloba var. magnifica
€110,00

Alocasia longiloba var. magnifica is an aroid part of the family of Araceae. These plants are also known as Elephant’s Ear because of their large leaves with jagged ridges. They spend a lot of time and energy in forming a tree-like stem to give them a more sturdy base. New leaves are formed within the petiole of the previous leaf. Once the developing leaf dies inside the petiole, the plant will not be able to grow new leaves.

Alocasia’s like a lot of indirect sunlight. During the summer they will need a lot of water to keep their leaves and petioles firm and upright. Alocasia are unfortunately prone to thrips and spider-mites. To prevent the plant from attracting pests, a high humidity is key. This makes them a bit more difficult for the beginning plant lover.
